WADSY
Youth Club

WADSYouth Group is an energetic and inclusive community dedicated to nurturing young talent in the performing arts. With a focus on theatre, music, dance, and other creative arts, the group offers a safe dynamic environment where members can explore their passions, develop skills, and gain confidence both on and off the stage.

Activities at WADSYouth Group

  • Weekly Workshops: Each week, members participate in a variety of workshops that cover acting techniques, vocal training, dance choreography, improvisation, and more. Led by experienced mentors, these sessions are tailored to build core skills and provide a foundation in various performing arts disciplines.

  • Seasonal Productions: The group typically stages one major production (for each age group) each year, giving members the chance to take on larger roles and showcase their growth. Preparation for these productions is intensive and involves full-scale rehearsals, set building, costume design, and marketing as well as Sunday rehearsals.

  • Preparation for Showcases: One term each year involves preparing for showcases, where members get the chance to perform in front of live audiences. As well as directed performances, our members get involved with preparing scripts, directing and choreographing in groups their own performances and stage blocking. Members may also gain hands-on experience in production elements like set design, lighting, and sound, ensuring they understand the full process of putting on a show. Members work together to develop original ideas for skits, scenes, or musical performances. These sessions foster teamwork and allow young artists to experiment with their ideas, learning how to bring them to life.

  • Masterclasses with Industry Professionals: Occasionally, WADSYouth Group invites guest artists and industry professionals to conduct masterclasses. These sessions offer deeper insights into specific fields such as stage combat, musical theatre, or even audition techniques, giving members valuable exposure to real-world expertise.

  • Team-Building Activities: The group also emphasises the importance of building a supportive community. Through fun, team-building exercises like improv games, group challenges, and social outings, members forge friendships and learn to work together as a cohesive unit.

  • Performance Opportunities: Beyond showcases, WADSYouth Group aim to participate in local community events and festivals. These additional performance opportunities allow members to share their talents with a broader audience and gain more experience performing in diverse settings.

  • Technical Skills Training: For those interested in the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre, WADSYouth Group offers training and shadowing in areas like sound engineering, lighting design, and stage management. Members can choose to specialise in these areas, gaining practical experience in technical roles essential for any production.

  • Feedback and Reflection Sessions: After every performance, WADSYouth Group holds feedback sessions where members can reflect on their performances, share experiences, and receive constructive feedback from peers and mentors. This process helps them improve their craft and gain confidence.

At WADSYouth Group, young performers are encouraged to explore, experiment, and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Whether aspiring to be on stage or behind the scenes, members develop valuable life skills and create lasting memories as they work together to bring their creative visions to life.
